Kelly Dewitt
Kelly is a nurse from Lynchburg with a big heart for both people and the planet. When she is not caring for patients, you'll find her digging in the dirt— gardening is her happy place. She loves spending time outdoors, whether it's being on the water, planting, or just soaking up the sunshine. Nature inspires her every day, and she is passionate about preserving it for future generations.
Tim Doss
Tim has lived in the Lynchburg area for his entire 76 years. He started coming to Timberlake 71 years ago with his next-door neighbors, Mr. and Mrs. A.L. Johnson. They had a cabin on what is now South Timberlake Drive. Tim and his wife, Brenda, bought a house on Timberlake in 2000. Tim has retired twice. The first time was from E.R. Squibb and Sons Pharmaceutical and the second from Suntrust Mortgage. However, He still works substitute teaching at Brookville High School and working for Rhino Sports.His love for Timber Lake goes back to his childhood and teen years. He has so many wonderful Lake memories as a child,as a teenager, and as an adult. His hope for the Conservancy is that it will grow and prosper and will maintain the viability of Timber Lake for future generations.Tim and Brenda (deceased) have 3 sons - Kevin ( deceased), Chris, and Jeff, and 6 grandchildren.
Katelyn Dreyer
Katelyn was born and raised on Timber Lake but now lives in Western Massachusetts with her husband (Doug) and two boys (Carter and Douglas Curtis). Katelyn has a long family history on the lake as she and her father (Carter Martin) both grew up loving the lake and building lots of memories. The Lake is such a special place and Katelyn looks forward to making many memories here with her family for years to come.
Kevin Ledoux
Kevin grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in Lynchburg since 1999. He has on the Lake since 2005 and has served as Vice President of the Timberlake Homeowners Association for the past seven years. He is a U.S. Navy veteran and has recently retired after a 40+ year career in the nuclear power industry.
Ben Moomaw
Ben is a lifelong Lynchburger. He has spent 42 years in the software development and faith-based nonprofit worlds. He is an avid farmer, gardener and naturalist. He and Kaye have operated Irvington Spring Farm for 30 years. They have six children and ten grandchildren. They recently restored one of the original log homes on the Lake. His uncle buzzed Timber Lake in 1942 in a B24 bomber!

Marvin Sehn
Marv started life on a grain and cattle farm in the Midwest. He attended college at North Dakota State University, graduating with a degree in Computer Science. He came to Virginia, married Nancy Warren and worked for Babcock & Wilcox. They moved around a bit but ended up back in Lynchburg where it all started. During the years he also received a degree from Lynchburg College and obtained a CPA. He has volunteered on several boards - churches in Virginia and Ohio - as Finance Director and then as Congregation President. He also served on the Timberlake Homeowners Association Board for several years. His family, consisting of 2 sons, their wives, and 4 wonderful grandchildren, visit often and enjoy the lake.
Bill Shafer
Bill was born in Winchester, Virginia. He graduated from UVA in 1975 (industrial engineering, premed). He attended Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1979 and finishing his residency at MCV 1983. He found the love of his life in 1985 and married Patti Vasvary in 1986. He worked in Richmond for his entire professional career, mostly at the emergency department at St. Mary's Hospital. He also trained students and residents at MCV, teaching as well for four years. Bill and Patti moved to Timber Lake in 2020 when they retired.
Dr. Thomas Shahady, Ph.D.
Tom is Professor of Environmental Science at University of Lynchburg and Director of the Environmental Education Center focusing on Water Resources in U.S. and Environmental Health in Latin America. He has a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Environmental Studies from Guilford College in Greensboro, NC, a Masters of Science in Environmental Health from University of North Carolina School of Public Health, and a Ph.D. in Zoology with Water Resources Minor from North Carolina State University.
Dr. Shahady has expertise in community based environmental problems. He has researched and consulted on water quality issues throughout the Finger Lakes Region of New York State, reservoirs in North Carolina and Virginia, impact of urbanization and dam removal throughout the Chesapeake Bay Watershed and public health and water supply in Costa Rica. He has worked with industry, EPA, and state regulators on environmental compliance issues. His current work is focused on sound environmental monitoring to manage and improve degraded water quality. He is also focused on how to improve stream restoration and develop good watershed management plans for degraded areas. In Costa Rica, he is working to improve overall sanitation to improve both drinking water and river health. His outreach is helping affected communities monitor their water quality and improve health.
Donald Stallard
Born in Bedford and raised in Lynchburg, Donald spent his teenage summers with friends on Timber Lake, a place he’s always loved. After thirty eight years of making stained glass windows for Churches and Commercial Businesses, he and his wife Missy retired. They purchased a lot on the Lake and built their forever home.
Jimmy Watts
Jimmy is Vice President of Scott Insurance, one of the largest independent insurance agencies in the Southeast, where he focuses on Commercial Property & Casualty Insurance. He has been employed with Scott since 1999. Mr. Watts received his Bachelors of Arts from the University of Virginia in 1988 and his law degree from Washington & Lee University in 1991. He practiced law at Edmunds & Williams in Lynchburg from 1991 to 1999, where he became a partner. Jimmy also serves as president of the board of Lynchburg Area Development Corporation, treasurer of the board of The Bryan-Wade Trust Fund and on the board of YMCA of Central Virginia.
